Sometimes, a small detail can completely change the look of a scale RC vehicle.
The idea behind the TWS HSR started with the hydraulic steering systems found on full-size off-road vehicles. We liked the mechanical look of the steering cylinder mounted across the axle and wanted to bring some of that character to our scale trucks.
But we didn’t want to make something that was only for decoration.
Inspired by Hydraulic Steering
The HSR is designed to resemble a hydraulic steering component, but it is not a hydraulic cylinder.
The steering system still works mechanically through the servo and steering linkage. The HSR becomes part of that linkage while adding the appearance of a hydraulic steering setup.
This was important to us.
Scale detail is fun, but on a TWS vehicle, we always prefer a detail that can actually be part of the driving experience.
A Little Function Inside
Inside the 9 mm aluminum body is a small silicone cushion.
It allows a slight amount of compliance in the steering linkage when force is applied, rather than making the entire assembly completely rigid.
It is not a hydraulic damper, and we don’t intend to describe it as one.
It is simply a small cushioning feature built into a scale-inspired steering component.
A little scale detail, with a little function too.
Small Details Matter
The aluminum body measures only 9 mm in diameter, so even the graphics became part of the development process.
Instead of engraving the logo directly onto the aluminum body, we used a transfer graphic for the tws HSR marking. This allows the logo to be correctly positioned after final assembly while keeping the clean appearance of the aluminum body.
The TWS color also adds just a small visual accent among the black and silver components of the front axle.
Nothing too loud.
Just enough to notice when you look closer.
Currently Under Testing
The TWS HSR is still under development and testing.
We are currently checking the internal cushioning, steering movement, durability, and how the complete assembly performs during actual trail driving.
As always, we would rather spend some time driving and testing a part before calling it finished.
Because scale details are nice.
But they are even better when you can take them outside and play with them.
TWS HSR
TWS HSR
